Do You Understand Your Car?

Do you understand how a car works?  It’s okay if you don’t quite get it, because understanding the mechanics of an internal combustion engine is not necessary for you to be able to drive an automobile.  Medleysautocare.com wants to help you understand the basics so that you will know how to better care for your car. Remember, a car that is cared for takes better care of the car owner.  So let’s get started.

The Basics:

Your automobile requires energy to run, just like the human body.  To get energy for our bodies we eat food.  An automobile’s food is gasoline and without it your car is not going anywhere.  Yet your automobile needs much more than a full tank of fuel to stay in peak performance condition.

Your car is an amazing system made up of various systems.  A typical automobile will have:

Ø       an electrical system,

Ø       an air intake system,

Ø       an emissions exhaust system,

Ø       a steering system,

Ø       a braking system,

Ø       a cooling system,

Ø       belt system,

Ø       Drive shaft system,

Ø       Lighting system

Ø       a suspension system and

Ø       a computer system

that regulates and monitors all of the other systems helping them run smoothly together.  All of these interdependent systems work together to give you a dependable driving experience.  It should be easy to see that a poorly maintained vehicle costs more to drive than one that is properly maintained and regularly serviced.
