Maintaining your car is important because, in most cases it is a major expense.  A well maintained vehicle should provide you with many years of safe (barring accidents) driving pleasure.

To keep your vehicle up to snuff there is some maintenance that must be done regularly,

Ø       Oil Changes

Ø       30,000 scheduled maintenance

Ø       60,000 scheduled maintenance

Ø       90.000 scheduled maintenance

Ø       Brake Service

These and other services should be performed by a professional technician at Medley’s.

Yet there are some things that you can do in the interim that may save you costly repairs and actually make your driving experience safer.

Windshield & Wipers

Keep your windshield clean.  A good rule of thumb is to clean the exterior and interior of your windshield at each fueling.  At most service stations there are a squeegee, paper towel and cleaning solution to assist you in keeping your driving view clear.  Oh, and don’t forget the rear  and side windows as well.

We exhale carbon dioxide, and in time our body’s emissions build up on the interior of our windshield causing a glaze to form.  When the Sun or some other light source shines through the glaze on the interior of our windshield we can be momentarily blinded to pedestrians, other vehicles and objects in the road.

Wiper blades

At your next oil change have the Medley’s technician check your wiper blades as well as the assembly that holds the rubber blade.  Ask Medley’s to replace them as needed.   Many times the problems with your wipers is that the tension needed to hold the blade against the natural curve of your windshield is no longer being applied by the old wiper blade assembly.

Failure of the wiper blade assembly can cause dangerous driving conditions if your are caught driving in a sudden rain storm or in the winter as salt and slush from the road spray and dry on your windshield.

Check Your Oil

Check the oil in your vehicle between oil changes by locating the oil "dipstick" in the engine compartment.  If you have been driving, let your vehicle cool , for the most accurate reading of the oil level.

When you remove the dipstick from the engine block, look at the end tip to see if the oil is at the mark etched in the stick that indicates full.  If the oil dipstick does not register full, you will need to bring you vehicle to one of the Medley's Auto Care Centers to be looked at more carefully
