Also you have the opportunity submit a question to Ask Medley's, which we will do our best to answer about general car care and maintenance. Specific questions about your car are impossible to answer here because automobiles are as different as people. People all have bodies with the same basic internal systems, but each body is cared for and maintained differently. We will not attempt to diagnose your vehicle's problem because you wouldn't want a physician to diagnose your physical ailment over the phone or through a website

2) What's the big deal with different types of motor oil and which do you recommend?

What's the big deal with different types of motor oil and which do you recommend? A rule of thumb is, use the weight of motor oil recommended by your vehicle's owner's manual. There are many manufacturers of motor oil. Each of these makers must meet certain U.S. government standards in the production of automobile grade engine lubrication oil. The point is that the brand of oil is less important than the weight that is recommended for your engine. 10W-30 is best for all engines for driving throughout the year. 10W-40 is very popular, but 10W-30 still out performs it because of the additive packages in it holds up better over the long haul.
